All of a sudden, after working fine, when I turn on video in RC it turns the video container all one color with no buttons or controls.

My camera works fine by itself, and works fine in other applications.

Hello @GeneGuilford, have you already tried basic troubleshooting?

  • Restart RingCentral: Completely close the RingCentral application, including the system tray icon, and then open it again. This often resolves temporary glitches.

  • Check for updates: Ensure you are on the latest version of the RingCentral app. Go to your RingCentral settings and look for an option to check for updates. Developers constantly release patches to fix bugs and improve performance.

  • Restart Your Computer: A full system reboot can clear out any lingering software conflicts or corrupted processes that may be affecting the application's ability to render video.

  • Check RingCentral's Camera Settings: Within the app, navigate to your video settings.

    • Go to Settings > Video > click Edit under Video Meeting settings > Video

    • Confirm that the correct camera is selected in the dropdown menu. Even if it was working before, it's possible a setting was inadvertently changed.

    • Check for any other video-related settings, such as HD video or CPU optimization, and try toggling them off to see if they are causing the problem.

  • Reinstall RingCentral: If the simple fixes don't work, a clean reinstall can often solve the problem by replacing any corrupted application files.

If you've gone through all the troubleshooting steps and the video issue is still happening, please reach out to RingCentral's support team. They have more advanced tools and knowledge to diagnose what's going on.

Thank you for your thoughtful answer, I appreciate it

It turns out the issue was the new background I had created, as when I took it out everything returned to normal.
