If you missed our live session, we’ve put together a quick breakdown of everything featured and discussed in our recent RingCentral Community webinar!

Hosted by @BeckyH  (Head of Customer Communities, RingCentral), Ayub Mohammed (SVP of SMB, RingCentral), @Mike Stowe  (Senior Director, Platform Solutions, RingCentral), and Lina Ochman (Head of US SMB, Anthropic), the session focused on how connecting RingCentral with Anthropic’s Claude transforms everyday communications into actionable productivity.

Check out the recording here: RingCentral Meets Claude | Put your Conversations to work inside Claude

🎯What Was Featured & Talked About

The Core Problem: Small Business Work Overload

  • Context Switching: SMB owners and operators juggle dozens of disconnected tools (phone calls, SMS, team chat, CRM, accounting), creating heavy administrative friction and lost follow-ups.
  • Unstructured Data: While traditional AI focuses on structured data like spreadsheets, the real context of a business lives in everyday customer conversations—phone calls, voicemails, text messages, and chat groups.

Why the RingCentral + Claude Integration Matters

  • Unified Workspace: Claude acts as an orchestration layer connecting RingCentral voice, SMS, and chat data directly with everyday tools like HubSpot, QuickBooks, Canva, and Monday.com.
  • Built-in Workflows: Features 43 pre-loaded skills and workflows specifically built to offload repetitive admin, lead management, and reporting tasks.
  • Enterprise Security & Control: Business data is never used to train Anthropic's AI models. Role-based access keeps permissions secure, and human-in-the-loop approvals ensure Claude only acts when you approve.

Live Demo Features & Use Cases

Mike Stowe walked through a 20-minute live demo showing how Claude automates an entire morning's task list:

  • Morning Catch-Up: Claude scans RingCentral team messages, SMS, and call logs, prioritizes urgent issues, and suggests draft responses.
  • CRM & Invoicing: Claude references customer chat logs and call notes with HubSpot, creates missing product SKUs, and generates draft PDF invoices.
  • Asset Creation: Claude reads design criteria directly from team chat channels and generates ready-to-use marketing mockups in Canva.
  • Automated Admin: Claude posts progress updates into RingCentral team channels and locates local service vendors to message via RingCentral SMS.

Want to view the demo? Check out the recording at 19:52.

Key Q&A Topics Addressed

  • Licensing: Claude for Small Business is free to enable on all paid Claude plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise).
  • Seat Counts: You only need Claude licenses for employees actively prompting Claude; it does not require a 1:1 match with RingCentral seats.
  • HIPAA & Compliance: Both RingCentral and Anthropic support HIPAA compliance and offer BAAs on eligible enterprise plans.
  • Live Call Handling: Claude analyzes transcripts, call notes, and voicemails post-call.

Questions Answers
Can Claude read call recordings, transcripts, voicemails, and call logs? Claude, with a users permission, can access extension call logs, text messages, voicemail transcriptions, and Call Notes. This allows you to prompt Claude for how to handle missed calls, texts, voicemails, or even to ask what was previously discussed. Claude can also work with your CRM or other tools to provide more context. For example, try prompting: “Who called me today that I haven't called back? Draft a text to each of them.
Can Claude analyze calls, build reports, and help coach my team? RingCentral's MCP servers and plugins for Claude are designed for personal productivity, not for overall company call analysis and coaching. While you can prompt Claude for details about your extension or your calls, for company-wide context you would want to use a solution like RingCentral's AI Conversation Expert (or ACE), which is specifically designed for company-wide call analysis, reporting, and coaching.
Does Claude work with RingCentral AI notes, summaries, and call recording settings? Yes, Claude utilizes AI Call Notes generated from RingCentral calls as well as voicemail transcriptions. For calls that are not recorded, or have AI Note taking turned off, Claude will be unable to access details beyond what's available in the Call Log, such as who called, and for how long.
Can Claude send texts or reply to customers through RingCentral? Yes, RingCentral supports sending SMS through Claude. This means you can have Claude review a customer's interactions, personalize a response for you, and then send the message once you confirm it's ready.
Can Claude manage tasks and contacts, read faxes, or keep a log of text messages? Partially, Claude can review your RingCentral contacts, access fax messages, and review text messages. However, it may not keep a full log (we would suggest saving the text messages in a contact record, like within a CRM), and it currently is unable to manage Tasks inside of RingCentral. For tasks, it can recommend the next actions you should take, or work with third party systems like Monday.com to create and track tasks for you.
Can Claude pull email, texts, calls, CRM tasks, and chat into one prioritized view? Yes, by connecting more than one tool to Claude. Each connector works separately, and you can ask Claude to combine them in one chat. RingCentral's examples include combining messages, calls, and voicemails with a project management system to build a prioritized to do list. Each connector needs its own sign in and returns only what that account can access. Check Anthropic's Connectors Directory for the other tools you use.
Can Claude change settings or load data in RingCentral, such as the admin portal or a customer file? RingCentral provides an Administrative MCP Server that can be added to Claude manually. This MCP server would allow Claude to perform some administrative functions as long as the user has the proper permissions assigned to their role, and they grant Claude access to these capabillities. More functionality is expected in the future, but will always be limited by the users role, and what is granted to Claude.
Does it work with GoHighLevel, Zoho, ACT, Clio, ConnectWise, and other CRMs? If you are utilizing RingCentral's App Connect framework for your integration (e.g. Zoho or Clio) you can install the App Connect MCP server on Claude (you can learn more at https://developers.ringcentral.com/mcp/). Otherwise, please review the Claude Marketplace or the CRM you are using for compatibility or available plugins, connectors, or MCP servers.
Does it connect to industry software such as EMR systems, WellSky, QuickBooks, Square, Fullbay, or Constant Contact? Please review the Claude Marketplace (claude.com/marketplace) for supported tools. If your preferred platform is not listed, please visit their website to see if they offer MCP support or the ability to manually install a connector on Claude for their service.
Does it work with Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite, and Dynamics 365, and can call notes and recordings be logged there? Salesforce and HubSpot are supported through RingCentral's App Connect MCP, which provides contact lookup, lead capture, call logging, and attaching notes for supported CRMs. For other solutions, please review the Claude Marketplace (claude.com/marketplace) for supported tools. If your preferred platform is not listed, please visit their website to see if they offer MCP support or the ability to manually install a connector on Claude for their service.
Can Claude also work with Outlook, Gmail, Teams, SharePoint, and calendars alongside RingCentral? Please review the Claude Marketplace (claude.com/marketplace) for supported tools. If your preferred platform is not listed, please visit their website to see if they offer MCP support or the ability to manually install a connector on Claude for their service.

We built our own CRM or softphone on the RingCentral API. What would Claude add?

Claude is not designed to replace your soft phone or your CRM, but rather to provide a new way of accessing the data inside of your CRM and RingCentral, help prioritize business tasks, personalize responses, and generate dynamic reporting. Think of Claude not as a place to store your data, but as a personal assistant on-call to help you manage tasks and your day more efficiently.
Why does the RingEX Phone connector fail with an “invalid_scope” error when I connect it? Thank you for bringing this to our attention. A new version of the RingCentral plugin is available, and should fix this issue. Please visit https://www.ringcentral.com/apps/claude-phone-sms-and-chat to install the latest version, and then retry connecting RingCentral Phone and Chat connectors.
Where do I find the RingCentral Phone connector? I only see Chat. Some users were unable to find the RingCentral plugin in the Claude Marketplace. We have worked with Claude and the plugin should now be available. You should now be able to access the plugin by visiting https://www.ringcentral.com/apps/claude-phone-sms-and-chat.
Where do I start, and how do I turn the connection on or off? To install the RingCentral Claude plugin for Phone and Chat, visit the App Gallery at https://www.ringcentral.com/apps/claude-phone-sms-and-chat or follow our installation guide at https://developers.ringcentral.com/mcp/solutions/claude-small-business/ (to disable connectors, simply click "disconnect" under the RingCentral plugin "Connectors" tab).
How does the integration work technically (MCP, API keys, models, tools exposed)? RingCentral utilizes MCP over HTTPS via SSE to integrate with different LLMs including Claude. As part of the authentication process, you will log into RingCentral via OAuth 2.0 at which time you are able to review the application scopes. All users will be limited to accessing the data, numbers, and actions based on their role via RBAC, as defined in the Admin Portal. You can learn more about how our MCP servers work, as well as the tools available by server at https://developers.ringcentral.com/mcp/. You can also learn more about RingCentral's security posture at https://trust.ringcentral.com/.
Are there prerequisites, such as an extra module, HubSpot or Canva, texting turned on, or the same account for the connector and plugin? The RingCentral plugin provides access to RingCentral capabilities including voice, SMS, and chat. Your account must be provisioned for these services, and SMS registration may be required before texting can be enabled (e.g. US customers). However, no other services or plugins are required to access your RingCentral services. To access additional services, like HubSpot or Canva, you can install the Claude for Small Business plugin - or visit the appropriate vendor to see what MCP capabilites they support.
Who can help me set this up, and is there training? For assistance setting up the RingCentral plugin in Claude, please review our online guide https://developers.ringcentral.com/mcp/solutions/claude-small-business/. You can also request assistance on our Community at https://community.ringcentral.com.
Is the RingCentral and Claude integration HIPAA compliant, and can I use it with patient information? While RingCentral provides HIPAA compliant solutions, it is important to review your organization's obligations and ensure each solution and integration is compliant. RingCentral currently does not provide data redaction or data anonymization, meaning PHI may be transmitted to third-party providers over our APIs or MCP servers if connected. It is important for your organization to understand these limitations, and review any third-party service to ensure their service integrated with RingCentral meets compliance standards. Where required, it's also important to ensure you have proper agreements (e.g. BAAs) in place with each provider handling PHI or other relevant healthcare data. For more, please review https://trust.ringcentral.com or work with your RingCentral representative and Anthropic rep to understand how each service meets these requirements, and appropriate next steps.
Can we sign a BAA, and would Claude be covered under our existing RingCentral BAA? Yes, RingCentral does support BAAs for our healthcare customers. However, a BAA with RingCentral only covers the agreed upon services, and you would need to sign a separate BAA with Anthropic for their services. Please work with your account rep at each company respectively to discuss the options availbale to you, and that organization's process.
Is this suitable for law firms, fiduciaries, and tax or accounting firms? For customers in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services, we recommend reviewing your industry requirements when evaluating services, and to ensure compliance. The RingCentral team is happy to help with any questions regarding our services (and more information is available at trust.ringcentral.com). We would recommend reaching out to Anthropic to discuss how they manage their services for your industry, and to better understand whether or not their solution is a fit for your business.
How is Claude different from RingCentral's own AI (ACE, AI Receptionist, notetaking), and will RingCentral replace its AI with Claude? The RingCentral plugin for Claude is designed for personal productivity, and is designed to assist you with your daily activities, calls, messages, and texts. Because it is limited to a users extension, it is not designed for company-wide insights or reports. RingCentral's AI Conversation Expert (ACE), on the other hand, is designed for company-wide insights across multiple extensions or departments, department/ company-wide reporting, and coaching to help maximize your business cross-departmentally.
Why Claude instead of ChatGPT, and how is this different from the ChatGPT connector? RingCentral offers support for both Claude and ChatGPT out of the box. This includes plugins for ChatGPT that support RingEX Phone and another for Chat (available in the ChatGPT Directory or on the RingCentral App Gallery at https://ringcentral.com/apps/p/ai-tools/). RingCentral also says its MCP servers are available for all LLMs, so you can choose the assistant your team already uses.
Do I need my own Claude subscription, and which plan works (Free, Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, Cowork)? To use RingCentral with a third-party service like Claude, you must have your own account with them. Please review Claude's pricing to determine which version of Claude works best for your needs: https://claude.com/pricing.
Does RingCentral charge extra for the Claude connector, and what does it cost per user? No. RingCentral's Claude connector and ChatGPT plugin are free for existing RingCentral users, and the MCP connectors are available with all paid RingEX plans. Two usage costs still apply. Prompting Claude through the connector counts toward your own Claude usage, and text messages you send through the connection count toward your RingCentral plan's usage.
How many tokens does this use and how much time does it save? Using the connector counts toward your Claude usage like any other request, so larger requests, such as summarizing many conversations, use more. Token usage is also dependent on the model used during the action/ prompt. RingCentral reports that an Orangetheory Fitness owner cut message review time from 45 minutes to under 5 minutes, and that one CTO cut review time by 98 percent.
How do we know Claude won't take actions we didn't approve, and how do we trust its answers? RingCentral enforces permissions on its side. Every request is limited to what you're already allowed to access and do in RingCentral, so Claude can't go beyond those permissions. Some tools are read only, while others can make changes, such as logging a call or sending a message, and those may ask you to confirm depending on your Claude settings. You approve access when you sign in, admins can review access logs, and you can disconnect at any time. Claude can still make mistakes, so check important details, such as names and numbers, against the record in RingCentral.
How is our data stored and protected, and is this a closed network? Each connection uses standard OAuth sign in, and your organization's call logs, voicemails, and messages stay inside RingCentral's existing security setup under your company's admin policies. Every request is limited to what the signed in user can already access, and admins can review access logs. Connections to RingCentral come from Anthropic's cloud, so this is a cloud connection and not a closed private network. Anthropic documents that Claude Team and Enterprise chat isn't eligible for zero data retention, which applies to commercial API keys and to Claude Code on Enterprise with ZDR enabled.
Is our data used to train AI models, and could it end up public? Please review Claude's Terms of Service and official statements on how customer data is utilized.
Where can I verify the privacy settings and read the compliance and legal documentation? You can learn more by visiting the RingCentral Trust Center (https://trust.ringcentral.com) and the RingCentral MCP Guide (https://developers.ringcentral.com/mcp/). For Anthropic, please review their official documentation for more information.
Who owns content Claude creates, and can recordings be kept for five years? Please review Anthropic's terms of use and official documentation. For archival purposes, you may want to store recordings on another service designed for such purposes. You may find current RingCentral partners focused on data archival, with many specializing in specific verticals, on our App Gallery at https://www.ringcentral.com/apps .
Can I connect multiple RingCentral accounts, numbers, or locations? RingCentral's Claude plugin is designed to be used by a singular RingCentral account/ extension. Using multiple extensions (e.g. disconnecting and reconnecting connectors) may produce unintended results from Claude as accounts may potentially be confused. For this reason, even though technically possible to use different accounts, we do not recommend it.
Is this per user or company wide, and does it work with call queues and multiple extensions? Each person connects with their own RingCentral sign in, and Claude can only see what that user is allowed to see. A call queue or group is covered only to the extent the signed in user has access to it. For account wide information, we recommend looking at RingCentral AI Conversation Expert (ACE), which provides company-wide analysis, reporting, and coaching.
Can Claude answer incoming calls live, or work with AI Receptionist? Managing live calls with Claude is currently not supported. RingCentral's plugin is designed to work with call logs, text messages, voicemail transcriptions, and related data within Claude. Live call answering is handled by RingCentral's AI Receptionist, which is available as a separate product.
Can events like a missed call trigger Claude, and can it help route or assist during a live call? The connectors work when someone asks Claude a question or gives it a task in a chat. Automatic triggers, such as a missed call starting a Claude workflow, are not currently supported. For AI based call responses and routing, we would recommend RingCentral AI Receptionist (AIR), which is specifically designed to assist callers with questions about your business, and to route them to a live agent when required.
Can Claude place automated AI calls, such as to past due clients or insurance companies? Automated calling using RingCentral is currently not supported inside of Claude. For automated AI calling, we would recommend evaluating RingCentral AIR Pro.
Can Claude send mass, scheduled, or automated text messages? The RingCentral plugin for Claude does support sending text messages, but is really intended for one-to-one, personalized messages. Scheduling and automated messages are not currently supported within Claude, but could be set up using the RingCentral Workflow Builder, included with your RingEX plan. When using SMS text messaging, please remember that carrier rules apply, and your usage of SMS must be consistent with the use case registered with carriers for that phone number.
Does it work with other texting tools, such as Bee Texting or a shared text inbox? Beetexting (Advanced SMS Inbox) and the Shared Inbox are not currently supported by the RingEX Phone plugin for Claude.
Is there a plan for medium, large, and Enterprise businesses, and when are Enterprise safeguards available? The RingCentral Phone and Chat plugin for Claude is avaiable to all RingEX customers and incorporates the same safeguards as those used across our APIs and third-party integrations, including RBAC. Additional safeguards and installation restrictions may be available through Anthropic.
Can partners sell Claude, and is there a pilot or beta program for small businesses? Claude is offered separately from RingCentral, and Claude subscriptions must be purchase from Anthropic or their authorized agents directly. RingCentral currently does not make Claude available or sell Claude plans as part of our customer agreements.
How to turn off the plugin at a company level. Do you have a guide if that is possible at all? Yes, this is possible. Organization owners can manage this under Organization settings > Plugins & skills — setting a plugin's default access to "Not available" hides it org-wide, and admins can also remove an entire plugin marketplace from the org. The full guide is here.
