RingEX: Phone, SMS, & Fax

We don't text customers, we mainly receive texts, very minimum (i.e. 2 step verification type texts), do we still need to set a SMS campaign?

I don't understand how this can be so complicated and there is really no support from RC. I have been with RC for years and all you get are some brainless bots dating back to 1980. I text between employees and team members and respond to clients by text and not talking about more than 15000 and less than 15000. It's ridiculous. None of the options even apply to me, so I have no idea how to even fill these out and no support. They send you some sheets that I have already seen that do not apply to my business, Some clients don't want to be called and want texts. I am seriously going to see if there is a replacement for RC. Any one can recommend another company?

I have gotten us as far as signing up with our "brand" and am moving on to the campaign. WHY were we charged $150? After reading many comments & info on the website, I do not see that. My bill says we were charged the $4 fee to register our brand, but what is the $150 for?? And our SMS texts are still NOT working. This has been an issue since MONDAY. We are in touch w/a lot of our patients and this is completely ridiculous that we can't send a text and couldn't all week.

Have been trying to send fax since Sunday, 3/5/2023. Fax is Failing. Not sure what is going on.

Can someone clarify--is it really the case the I have to register a "campaign" with TCR, obtain consent, have an opt-out mechanism, and pay some BS monthly fee--all so that I can send a few text responses to my clients and vendors? Do I really need consent to text a client that I'm stuck in traffic and will be 5 minutes late? Do my vendors really need the ability to opt out of messages like "i'm sorry i missed your call--will try you this afternoon?". This sounds like a money grabbing bureaucratic hellhole. Please someone tell me that my understanding is wrong--and tell me how to continue to use SMS on my RC line in the same way I use it on my cellphone.Sidenote--I still can't opt out of messages from shortcode spammers because RC won't let me send texts to shortcode numbers, but I have to register a campaign so that I won't cause the same frustration to others??

Our business only receives texts (mostly for account verification codes, not even to talk with clients). We are thinking about just disabling SMS, instead of worrying about TCR registration, since we don't feel our business is applicable. If we do register a campaign, I am worried about getting a fine for "failure to use campaign" which is a fine of $250 for not sending SMS to any T-mobile customers in a 60-day period, which we would definitely not make. Am I even reading the TCR registration fee FAQ correctly? If our SMS capabilities are disabled, would we still be able to receive these texts as emails?

How are we supposed to provide opt-out examples for TCR when RingCentral doesn't have support for this currently? Are we supposed to lie? Put what it might eventually be? Unsure how to proceed here without proper RC support

Do we have to add all contact information of vendors and people we contact in the SMS campaign? Does that mean that any new number that is not added on the campaign will not allow us to message each time? If YEs, do we manually add each number in this campaign? This is just confusing.

The new TCR rules are ridiculous for a small company using text to only respond to a one-to one customer service request via text message on our company line. Now we cannot even provide fast service to a customer via a text response. This rule should really only apply to more than one number. If it is a one to one reply SMS should not be affected. Grouping the millions of small businesses into the same category of businesses who abuse SMS is awful and seems like it could be bordering on illegal. This new rule is asking for registration fees and quite frankly, we are better off cancelling ringcentral and porting our number to a cell service.I urge all small business customers to speak up given we are all being forced to pay a fee for a service we do not even use (campaign texting). If you are a single response SMS user please share your thoughts!

Once a customer opts into receiving texts, do we have to include an opt-out option & help option into every SINGLE text we send to that customer? If so, does RingCentral MVP have an SMS template so we can easily add our opt-out & help messages to every text we send, or are we responsible to add this info ourselves?

We use 3rdy party companies to send text to customers for most of our text messaging. Our employees communicate with the customers through the websites of these companies. We do use RingCentral for texting as well, just not nearly as much. I realize I will have to setup TCR for our use with RingCentral. My question is about these 3rd party companies. Are we responsible for setting them up in TCR as well, or is that something the are responsible for? I'm not sure how to approach this since it's not through RingCentral, but they are sending them on behalf of our company.

We received an email today saying we have used 90% of our texts for the billing cycle. I pulled some metrics and we have used 782 texts this month so far with 14 days left in our billing cycle. Last billing cycle we used 1,289 texts and did not hit any limits. Why do we suddenly have some limit much lower than last month? Anyone else receive a message like this with mysterious limits you've never hit before?

I am a sole practitioner. I do not have an EIN. The template that you have to fill in requires an EIN. I am not going to get an EIN just to make RC happy. And my plan is self-service only. No live person to speak to.I'm getting very frustrated with RC to the point of pulling the plug and going elsewhere.

We don't have an EIN number we use social security number for our business. But the registration form for TCR is requiring it? What do we do?

My colleague is using the RingCentral app on her iPhone 14. When she takes a picture, within the app, and tries to fax it she has been experiencing frequent failures. Further, although the failure is noted on the iPhone app, it does not show up on her Windows RingCentral desktop app. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

We use SMS for internal usage only, we do not communicate with our customers via SMS texting. That being said, when choosing "How will you be using SMS within this campaign?" options, are auto-attendant/receptionist generated SMS texts to our employees considered "Automated Messages" or "Conversational Messages"?Also, how do we deal with the "Proof of Customer Consent" if it's only internal messaging? Or even Opt-in/out?

SMS is the same thing as a text message, isn't it? We communicate with clients via text messages for their convenience. They usually initiate the text message. We never use text messages for advertising, and we do not ask our clients permission to send text messages, since th client is almost always the one who initiates the exchange via text messages. In my opinion, this whole thing is pointless, but I am willing to do it up to a point. However, I really do not want to bother all my clients with a form to give me permission to respond to their text messages. Do you have any suggestion other than to forego this means of communication?

@Becky-Community_Manager I've seen other folks ask questions about TCR and that you were able to check on the status of their registration for them. Would you please check mine and see if it is successfully submitted and just waiting for the vetting process to finish? Or if there is some issue and I need to resubmit?

Right now we have 57 numbers, how much is the registration fee and will each number have a monthly fee? or is it one fee for all the numbers?

I have no Enhanced EMS option on my Phone System panel. How do I go forward with the TCR Registration?

I have submitted the PDF version of the SMS Campaign Registration on February 17th.There is no email confirmation from ringcentral and No status in Admin portal too.does it same for all customers who submitted TCR through PDF? How will i know that ringcentral has actually received it?

My industry regulations do not allow for unmonitored messaging of any kind so I do not use SMS texting with any person or company that may become a client for any business communication. Do I still need to register with TCR?If so, what do I do if I don't have an EIN and don't need to get one?Solo Practioner, Financial Advisor, Registered Representative (Stock Broker).

This won't get picked up, nothing seems to get picked up with RingCentral ideas.An admin should be able to save contacts for all users. Having each user import a CSV is not the best way to do this. I would have to go to over 40 users computers to ensure it's done right. Global contacts IS A MUST.

After turning off HV SMS, the standard SMS sending function in the RingCentral APP is back, but the SMS cannot be delivered. When I sent a test SMS a few seconds later, it said "The Message could not be delivered" . Close HV SMS related this question
